Okawari Ramen – Japanese style Cha Shu Ginseng Noodle Soup

Tokyo Joe opened their ramen chain a few months ago in the save on foods mall in Richmond, just across from their sushi chain! I haven’t actually tried the sushi chain, but decided to try their ramen first. Upon entering, we were greeted by enthusiastic Japanese waitresses and the restaurant was quite empty. But a few minutes after sitting down, the place became full! They have specials every week and this week was the Curry Ramen so I decided to try that. The ramen wasn’t actually soaked in a curry soup base, but instead, the fried pork was drizzled with curry sauce, so it was just enough curry flavour without taking over the flavour of the ramen soup. The Okawari Ramen is basically like their house ramen, but it is different from other ramen, where they actually have ginseng in this one! I never got a chance to try it, but it looks delicious! Now I want to try the Tokyo Joe sushi factory across the street!

Zakkushi Charcoal Grill

Uzura – Quail Egg wrapped with Sliced Pork & Garlic Beef – AAA Beef with Teriyaki Sauce and Garlic Chips

Kobe Beef Tsukune (Meatball) & Shitake – Shitake Mushroom with Grated Radish, Daikon and Ponzu Sauce

Momo – Chicken Thighs & Yaki Ebi – Prawns with Butter Soy Sauce and Garlic Chips

Teba – Chicken Wing

Nori Maya – Terriyaki Sauce, Mayo and Seaweed Chicken Meatball & Tsukune – Teriyaki Sauce and Garlic Chicken Meatball

Mmmm! Zakkushi Charcoal Grill is all about grilled skewers! They do however have salads, sashimi and other tapas, but I just ordered a bunch of skewers since there were so many to choose from! Prices range from about $1.40 to $2.90 per skewer and they are all really delicious! Cannot decide which one is my favourite! Zakkushi also has 3 locations in total. This one was at the Denman and Robson location. There are also ones on West 4th and Main. Don’t know how the service is at those locations, but service was prompt and satisfying at this location. Definitely going to go back again to try the other skewers! Too many to choose from!

G-Men

Tan Tan Noodle

RCMP Ramen

G-Men is back! Few months ago, I got to the old location and thought that it had closed down permanently but luckily it has reopened on the busy street of food – Alexandra Rd. Now I can satisfy my cravings once again. I have to admit that parking is terrible around that area but I guess it’s worth it for some delicious ramen! Still in a quite small store but the decor seems nicer and their menu has changed drastically. They have much more variety with a lot of different appetizers as well. I decided try the Tan Tan Men which has a thicker soup base. It was actually a little spicy too! Definitely great ramen and I have yet to try some of their appetizers too!

Fresh Bowl

Chicken Street Style Satays

Bali Gado Salad Bowl

Stumbled across Fresh Bowl today in Yaletown and it really reminded me of The Naam. A small store with friendly service, offering dishes influenced from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Their main dishes were “bowls” which consisted of either noodles, rice, or just salad. These bowls were then topped with different types of ingredients but a lot of veggies! For sure a healthy place to grab some food. They also offer snacks like roti, and satay skewers and also tapioca desserts. A great place to go to if you want some healthy food in Yaletown!

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

Miso Ramen

Always hearing fabulous stories about Santouka for their delicious ramen, so finally decided to check it out. This place is always packed! Line ups, but totally worth it. The soup base is delicious and is said to be one of the best authentic ramen restaurants in Vancouver. Kintaro is my other favourite. Prices are on the higher end for ramen compared to other restaurants, but quality is what it’s famous for! So definitely worth it!

California Pizza Kitchen

 Cranberry Cooler

Fried Mac N Cheese

California Club – Applewood smoked bacon, chicken and Mozzarella hearth-baked then topped with tomatoes, avocado and chilled lettuce tossed in mayonnaise

Trip to Seattle means having some good food again! Went to California Pizza Kitchen at Northgate Mall. It’s a place great for the family, similar to The Cheesecake Factory, with decent service. Big portions for the price as well! The California Club Pizza tasted basically like a Caesar Salad, so you don’t really need to order another salad on the side. I have to say, it’s quite a healthy choice for a pizza. The Fried Mac and Cheese was not the best though. I felt like it wasn’t very fresh, as it was kind of hard. It almost seemed as though it was made ahead of time and heated back up. Overall, the food is pretty good and worth a try!

Adonia Teahouse

 Mini Afternoon Tea

I love the feeling of going to high tea. It’s like going back to childhood memories where you dressed up and had tea parties!  Afternoon tea is a great choice to get together with your bestie or a few girls to catch up and indulge in some tasty mini sweets and savouries, while taking a sip from your favourite tea. I’ve gone to both the Urban Tea Merchant and Secret Garden, but Adonia is the place where you will feel as though you are in a fairytale. Their decor is beyond exquisite and the chinaware are gorgeous with floral prints. Oh so girly! For just $17 a person, you can enjoy a Mini Afternoon Tea, which includes 7 pieces of mini sweets and savories accompanied by your choice of tea. If you want a larger assortment, then you can go for their Afternoon Tea f or $27 a person. Both are priced at a reasonable price, and the food is delicious!

ABC Cafe

Vermicelli in Fish Soup with Fish Tofu and Beef

Black Pepper Spaghetti

Wandered around Aberdeen to decide what to eat, and ended up ABC Cafe again. This is my second time and it was a lot more empty than during their grand opening. I decided to try their “Make your own noodle soup” menu and was quite surprised that the portion was quite large. Overall, it was pretty good, with quick service and decent food.
